Year-End Progress Update
As we wrap up the year, below are recent updates on Pale Privileges, Dark Roast across publishing, distribution, and outreach. It’s been a season of steady momentum, learning curves, and plenty of behind-the-scenes work.
Here’s a look at what’s been happening the past month:
Production/Publishing
Finalized KDP paperback format for launch
KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) is Amazon’s platform for publishing paperbacks and eBooks, allowing updates and global distribution on Amazon.
Finalized KDP ebook format for launch and upcoming ARC distribution.
Having the eBook finalized now also makes it possible to share Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) ahead of launch, helping generate early feedback, reviews, and visibility before release.
Ingram proof approved after manual review and holiday backlog; interior file updated and ready
IngramSpark is a major print-on-demand and distribution service for bookstores and libraries, helping the book reach retailers beyond Amazon.
Platform / Web Presence
Updated website to include separate pages for each book
Submitted a request for a Goodreads page
Goodreads will serve as an early space where readers and reviewers can follow the project and share comments even before release.
Website traffic grew significantly this year, with unique visitors up 516%! I’m grateful for everyone who’s been part of that growth.
Marketing / Outreach
Started a TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram channel. Exploring new social platforms has been a stretch outside my comfort zone. It’s admittedly not my favorite part of indie publishing, but it’s also been surprisingly fun and humbling. Trying something new has helped me experiment with more personal, on-camera content and connect with new people along the way. Links to the channels can be found in the header of this site.
